Coming Soon
OK I am going to try again. Good Afternoon Boss Skinner, also to our Vice President, our Regional Presidents, also all the Patched Brothers, Prospects, and to our great Support teams.
This time about two years ago I came across a motorcycle club guest book. I started reading some of the entries. What was wrote in these short letters impressed me enough to ask if I could become a prospect with them. To my surprise the local president, was someone I had worked for almost twenty years. We also lived only a few miles apart.
I enjoyed my prospect time with the patched brothers from this region. I had a great time at our spring run. To finally meet some of the guys that had wrote the stories in the guest book. I was impressed with them, as much as what they wrote.
I think I started my spring run a little early, well the summer run for nationals kind of got off on an early start also. Radio, and I left home the 13 of April. We road to Portland, Or. Where we picked up another Prospect Draco? This got one of the major requirements out of the way. From that point on I was on my own until our spring run, and that was the start of my 3 mo. 11000 mile bike ride. On this ride I rode through 19 states, 5 more than once. I can’t say this was ever on my bucket list, but I am glade it made it there anyway.
Jest before this trip started it was my birthday, and my daughter asked me how old I was. I told her 77. She looked at me for a moment, then said no you are over ¾ of a century old, and you want to do this. It only took a second to replay. If I wait another year I may not be able to do it.
This ride let me ride with men I wish I had known all my life. When they use the term “BROTHER” it comes from the hearts of every one of them. Even as a prospect I was shown that this group of people really do care about you. Late one night after becoming a prospect I started feeling that I would become a millstone around the necks of the members of this club due to my Parkinson. I wrote boss Skinner asking him to withdraw my application for membership. This man answered me back a whole lot faster than I can type. You are a Nam Vet Brother, and you need a better reason than that. No man is left behind. If we need to pick you up in a car, we will do it. Thank you Boss Skinner, and thank you to the rest of the members that helped me feel accepted.
I could go on, and on because I have jest scratched the surface. I think I have wrote enough for tonight. Keep the rubber down, and ride on brothers! KILO
