GREETINGS Brothers, Supports & Prospects!!
Just got back from the Sturgis Rally today. May what a disappointment this year's rally was. Vendors jacked up their prices even more than the past years, e.g., I got a root beer float today at lunch, twelve bucks. I was going to add saddlebag speakers and a second amp to my sound system I bought last year, but the add-ons they wanted the same as I paid for the whole system. Nope, not happening.
Food vendor variety went way downhill this year as well. Prices up, selection much lower.
And coppers EVERYWHERE. A buddy we were riding with got pulled over TWICE, by the same city copper. His "crime" riding while Black. First time he got pulled ever the copper told him it was because 'he looked like he had weed on him' The second time he'd made a RIGHT had turn off Lazelle right behind a White guy. Yeah, guess who didn't get stopped.
The concert line ups this year weren't even that good, then there was the 4 days as raining buckets.
So I don't know if I'll be willing to go back next year or not. I bet is something doesn't change, seeing a 90th Rally will be doubtful, and I'd say a 100th in 2040 will definitely not happen. Too corporate, Sturgis city and Meade County governments now treating the Rally goers as an income source rather than guests. But the final nail in its coffin might be the attendees. I saw way too many 20 & 30 year olds who's only goal was to treat the whole rally like Spring Break in Florida.
Anyway, Kenny and I had a great time camping and riding together. Attendance was way down this year, 23% below five year averages. So I guess we'll see what happens.
Prayers for speedy recoveries for those on the mend.

PS, still working on a location for 2027. Going to ride over to Brother Scooter's next month to check out some locations. Plus, I've not ridden in his AO yet.
